Samuel Russell Gerry papers, 1769-1843.

Papers of Capt. Samuel Russell Gerry (born ca. 1784) include a letterbook containing copies of letters Gerry wrote from Batavia (Jakarta) to various Massachusetts merchants concerning the sale of their cargoes (1831); and letters he wrote from Marblehead, Mass., to other merchants and captains, including Capt. William G. Blackler. Also, Gerry's invoice books as master of the brigs Washington and Charles & Ellen (1820-22). Papers of Gerry's father, Samuel R. Gerry (1750-1807) consist of an account ledger (1769-1802) and an account journal (1769-1791) detailing his personal and business transactions.
