The Massachusetts Correctional Institution, Framingham, houses females sentenced to imprisonment, awaiting trial, or committed by the courts for alcohol or substance abuse treatment (MGLA c 125, s 16; c 123, s 35). Under the supervision of the deputy superintendent for programs and treatment, the director of treatment and programs coordinates inmate recreational and treatment programs. Photographs are mainly color snapshots taken by inmates or prison staff for the purpose of preparing displays of inmate programs after they have taken place. Types of programs photographed include craft exhibits, parties, family days, children's activities, and visits by notable persons.
