Collection of original deeds and other miscellaneous documents belonging to Samuel Edson and his family of Bridgewater, Mass. A deed dated 9 January 1689 by Samuel Edson, Sr. grants land and meadows to his son Josiah in Bridgewater. A deed dated 20 March 1703/4 by Josiah Edson, son of Samuel, grants most of his lands to his nephew, Capt. Josiah Edson with the condition he support his uncle Josiah and his wife, Elizabeth (Dean) Edson who had no issue. Other documents include the signed acknowledgment by Capt. Josiah Edson agreeing to the terms in his uncle's deed and a document referencing land purchased by Edward Fobes of Bridgewater from John Cary, circa 1683. Signers of the Edson family deeds are Samuel and Joseph Edson, sons of Samuel, and Rev. James Keith, first pastor of the Church at Bridgewater.
