Correspondence, 1814.

Ms. copies of correspondence between British representatives for the Treaty of Ghent William Adams, James Gambier, and Henry Goulburn; and Robert Stewart Castlereagh, who supervised their work with the American delegates on the mission. Castlereagh's letters instruct Britain's delegates on official British policy; the representatives respond with descriptions of negotiations with their American counterparts John Quincy Adams, James Bayard, Henry Clay, Albert Gallatin, and Jonathan Russell. Some correspondence relating to the treaty between Henry Goulburn and Henry Bathurst is also included.
