Town founded in 1643; church gathered 1644; the minister, John Fiske, went to Chelmsford with seven church members to form a church there, leaving an undetermined number of church members in Wenham; there is evidence of a reorganization in 1663. In 1833 the Congregational Parish and Society in Wenham was organized; this dissolved on the incorporation of the church in 1925; extant as First Church in Wenham Congregational (UCC) in 1996.
