Letters of Joseph Dudley addressed to William Blathwayt, Commissioner of Trade and Secretary at War in Britain, keeping him apprised of Dudley's lobbying efforts to win the appointment of Governor of Massachusetts. Dudley secured this post with Blathwayt's assistance and with the help of other highly placed men including Lord Sidney Godolphin and nonconformist ministers John Howe and John Shower.
