Manuscript history of the Pilgrims of Plymouth, 1620-1623.

Thomas Bradford Drew began and George C. Burgess completed this ms. history of the Plymouth Colony through 1623. The history begins with the flight of the Separatists (Brownists) to Scrooby, England, and then to Leyden, Holland, and continues with the preparations for the voyage, the voyage of the Mayflower, the settlement of Plymouth Colony, and exploration of the Cape Cod region. The history of the settlement is largely based upon accounts by William Bradford and Edward Winslow. Relations with Massassoit, Squanto, and other members of the Wampanoag Tribe; Pilgrim efforts to survive the hardships of their settlement; arrivals of subsequent groups of settlers; business dealings with Thomas Weston; and the leadership of William Bradford, John Carver, and Miles Standish are all described in this historical account.
