Burne-Jones writes to Hill in this undated letter "thanking him for a delightful looking book." The letter was removed from Burne-Jones's copy of Rudyard Kipling's Wee Willie Winkie and other child stories (1888), held by the Mortimer Rare Book Room. In a postscript Burne-Jones adds that he has a "craze" for Syria and travels there every year and that he will discuss the sights there when he sees Hill the next Sunday. Hill would eventually write on Syria in his: With the Beduins (1891).
