Samuel Rutherford Crockett letters to Samuel Sidney McClure [manuscript], 1895-1896.

Crockett discusses in detail New York's Fenno and Co.'s publication (under their own copyright) of an early work of his without is knowledge or permission. He complains that this misrepresents his current work and reduces its value. He expresses his desire that McClure publicize the truth of the situation in his magazine. In a second letter he discusses a number of short stories he has written, describes his philosophy on writing and expresses his appreciation for McClure's help with "A Galloway herd."
