Teacher and lecturer, of Northampton, Mass. Opened a school in 1810 in her home on Pleasant Street and presumably taught, in addition to reading, needlework, etc., some advanced ideas such as dress reform and women's right to vote; one of first women in the U.S., to give public lectures and traveled as far as Ohio giving talks on history and travel, illustrated with lantern slides.
