Reminiscences of a four years residence on the Niagara Frontier, 1823 to 1827, 1882 / by Henry C. Van Schaack.

Van Schaack writes of life in Black Rock; his legal work for Samuel Denniston, inventor, and James Higbee, builder, of a perpetual motion machine, and Denniston's interactions with Mordecai Noah on Grand Island; the hanging of the Thayer brothers for the murder of John Love; and the visit to Buffalo of General Lafayette. He prefaces his reminiscence with information on his uncle, Major Henry Van Schaack, an Albany merchant active in the fur trade and a frequent visitor to the Niagara Frontier.
