A statement, written at "camp near Buffalo" exhorting the men of New York to join him when his troops plant the American standard in Canada, 10 Nov. 1812; three notes to Gen. Porter, one asking him to issue provisions for a party of militia, 19 Nov. 1812, the second requesting his attendance at a council of war at Landon's in Buffalo, 23 Nov. 1812, and the third instructing him to gather provisions and boats, and asking his opinon on landing opposite the upper part of Grand Island, [late Nov. 1812]. Also, Smyth's instructions to his men for the embarkation to Canada from the navy yard, labeled "Gen'l. Smyth's last proclamation", 29 Nov. 1812.
