The collection consists of family papers of Manley A. Raymond from 1837-1959. The papers include a letter book (ca. 1872-1876) containing correspondence addressed mainly to Manley A. Raymond from relatives and friends (some are in French and some in German); a diary (1874) kept by Raymond while studying in Europe; a diary (1883) of his wife Mary; and a diary (1902) of his daughter, Alice G. The majority of the loose correspondence pertains to Alice Raymond, including letters (ca. 1906-1946) from her fiancee, later husband, James H. Biram, and from her father, friends, and relatives. Seven of Biram's letters to Alice were written as a doctor stationed in France at the end of World War I. Photographs in the collection documents James H.
