Augustus Montague Toplady collection, [ca. 1762-1776].

The collection consists of a single bound volume containing material relating to Augustus Montague Toplady from circa 1762-1776. The collection, formed by Toplady's biographer, Thomas Wright, includes correspondence, manuscripts of his sermons, hymns, and other writings, and notes. Of particular interest is a letter to the Countess of Huntingdon (July 30, 1776) pertaining to religious matters and referring to London bookbinder Roger Payne and to his own hymns.
