Thomas Dixon papers, 1901-1905.

The collection contains one folder of correspondence (1901-1905), which includes thirteen detailed letters from Thomas Dixon to publishers. They pertain to Dixon's books THE LEOPARD'S SPOTS and THE ONE WOMAN: A STORY OF MODERN UTOPIA. He discusses the books' promotion and reviews, he evaluates publishers, and he mentions plot development for his book THE CLANSMAN, which was later made into the motion picture BIRTH OF A NATION. Four letters (1903-1905) are from Dixon's first wife, Harriet, to Cathcart regarding personal and publishing matters. The collection also contains photos of Thomas and Harriet Dixon, a brochure for Dixon's lecture tour, and a typescript of THE ONE WOMAN.
