Records of the Radioactive Waste Review Board (RWRB), the agency responsible for representing Wisconsin before the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and related boards and committees, in matters relating to the disposal of high-level radioactive waste and other siting issues. The records document the board's activities, communications, and publications. Included is incoming and outgoing correspondence of Executive director Jim Kleinhans and Chairman Joseph Strohl, and video and audio recordings of briefings and public hearings related to DOE's plans, as part of the Crystalline Repository Project, to store nuclear waste in northern Wisconsin. The processed portion of this series is summarized above, dates 1982-1989, and is described in the register. There are additional accessions dating 1977-1994 which are described below.

The Radioactive Waste Review Board was created by the Wisconsin Legislature in 1981 (Wis. Stats. 15.915(4) and 36.50) in response to the U.S. Dept. of Energy's activities in granite states.
