The processed portion of the collection consists of biennial summaries of legislative accomplishments, 1971-1980; memoranda ("The Vest Meets the Press"), 1979-1982, about the press conferences of Republican Governor Lee S. Dreyfus; and speeches, press releases, draft letters, news columns prepared by the caucus for individual assemblymen during the 1987-1988 legislative session, as well as some background research materials.

The Wisconsin Assembly was created in 1848 under Article IV of the Wisconsin Constitution. Its 99 members are elected at a general election in November of the even-numbered years. The Territorial House of Representatives served an analogous function during the state's territorial period from 1836-1848.
