Political correspondence, 1874-1875, relating to James G. Knight, a Darlington, Wisconsin Republican who was appointed superintendent of public property for Wisconsin in 1875. Also included is a photograph of the 1st Division, 20th Army Corps, of which Knight was a member, taken in Atlanta, Georgia on October 26, 1864.

James H. Knight was a well known airmail pilot during the first half of the twentieth century. Born in Buchanan, Michigan in 1892, Knight flew for the U.S. Air Mail Service from 1919 to 1927, serving assignments in College Park, Maryland, Chicago, Illinois, Cleveland, Ohio, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Omaha, Nebraska. On a 1920 flight between Cleveland and Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, Knight set an airmail flight record by flying 215 miles in 83 minutes. In 1921, he was the pilot on the first ever airma...
