Transcribed letters written by Clarence Konopacki of Manitowoc, Wis. to Marianne F. Kruzicki (who became his wife in April 1944) of Rosholt, Wis. during his World War II military service. Letters begin while Konopacki was undergoing advanced training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Tex. and follow his military career through fighting in Germany with the 95th Infantry Division, where a battlefield commission promoted him to Captain. Although the letters are primarily love letters, they do give a broad picture of the life of an Army infantryman, as well as a glimpse of life on the home front. Interspersed throughout are photographs (photocopies) and illustrations drawn by Konopacki. The transcriptions were prepared by the Konopackis' daughter, Laurie Kattreh, and are bound into a volume titled "An American Cross Section of War, Vol. 1."
