Records of the Wisconsin State Industrial Union Council, a labor union council composed of Wisconsin CIO local unions, documenting the post-World War II effort to remove communists from membership, the activities of the Political Action Committee, labor-management agreements, the Governor's Industrial Development Committee (1952-1955), and the 1958 merger of the council with the state Federation of Labor to form the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO. Records include five scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings, 1937-1948; copies of contracts, correspondence, information bulletins, and the merger agreement. Much correspondence is that of council president, Charles W. Schultz.

The Committee for Industrial Organization was formed by the presidents of eight international unions in 1935. The presidents of these unions were dissatisfied with the American Federation of Labor's unwillingness to commit itself to a program of organizing industrial unions.
