World War I scrapbook of Lester W. Roberts of Madison, Wis., a second lieutenant in Co. E, 410th Telegraph Battalion, Signal Reserve Corps, documenting his experience from his training in Leon Springs, Tex. to his service in France. Included is a diary, a list of fellow officers at his various stations, letters of recommendation, orders, memorabilia, clippings, photographs, and postcards.

Congress passed a resolution creating a national weather service on February 9, 1870, and it was signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant. This new law directed the Secretary of War to take meterological observations and provide warnings of approaching storms. The Brevet Brigadier General Albert J.
