Brief papers of forester and conservationist Charles H. Stoddard, a native of Wisconsin who held many positions with the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of the Interior (including director of the Bureau of Land Management, 1936-1966), and who served on several environmental advisory boards and as advisor on resources to President Kennedy. Included is biographical information; documents detailing his achievements in federal service; a compilation of documents concerning land use planning in Washburn County, Wis. from 1928 to 1967; several published articles; a tape-recorded reminiscence, probably recorded ca. 1986; and a "diary" concerning his Wolfe Pond property in Washburn County which contains a history and extensive descriptive details about the land and is also autobiographical.
