Scenery of Yellowstone National Park, 1871.

Mounted gold-toned albumen prints of photographs made in July 1871 by William Henry Jackson for the U.S. Geological Survey of the Territories, also known as the Hayden Survey, of areas which would become Yellowstone National Park. These images are some of the first photographs made in this area and were influential in establishment of the national park system. They include images of hot springs, craters, geysers, lakes, and waterfalls.
