Charles Isaac Mungo Dibdin, theatre manager and writer. His parents, who separated while he was young, were actors Charles Dibdin and Harriet Pitt. As a child, he went by the name Charles Isaac Pitt, but later came to be known professionally as Charles Dibdin the younger. Dibdin was an English dramatist, actor and songwriter. His son Charles Isaac Mungo Pitt wrote plays and pantomimes and was for some time proprietor and manager of Sadler's Wells Theatre. A younger son, Thomas John Pitt, also took the name Dibdin about 1800. Thomas composed some 2,000 songs in the style of the elder Dibdin; his most successful dramatic work was the pantomime of Mother Goose. From the description of Papers, 1776-1831. (Unknown).
