Perley P. Pitkin of Montpelier, Vt., was commissioned 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Quartermaster for the 2nd Vermont Regiment on June 6, 1861. He was promoted to Captain, and named Assistant Quartermaster, U.S. Volunteers, on February 19, 1862. He was made Colonel and Chief Quartermaster, U.S. Volunteers, on August 2, 1864.
