Early United States naval aviation scrapbook [graphic], 1911-1912.

Scrapbook about the early days of naval aviation in the United States, 1911-1912, compiled by Dale B. Sigler and assembled by his grandson, Renato S. Colantoni, for the United States Navy. Sigler, a native of Portland, Or., was one of the first enlisted men to serve in the United State Naval Aviation Corps. Subjects include portraits of Sigler and his fellow enlistees in the Corps; the first flight of a Wright B-1 biplane at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. in 1911; early airplanes, including the Wright B-1 and the Curtiss A-1 and A-2; the first U.S. Navy air field at Greenbury Point, Md.; the U.S. Navy aviation camp at North Island, San Diego, Calif.; and early airplane crashes. Includes a typescript biography of Sigler. The photographers are unidentified.
