George Augustus Frederick was born August 12, 1762, the eldest son of George III of England and Queen Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. He was created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester on September 8, 1762. George Augustus became a knight of the Garter on December 28, 1765, and was presented to the public in October, 1768.
