The admiral reports to the Congressman that "our twentieth nuclear powered submarine is returning from her initial builder's trials ... she steamed deeper than any submarine ever built by the United States." (The U.S.S. Thresher sank in the Atlantic on April 10, 1963, losing 129 men.).
