Records, 1831-1949, of The Leake and Watts Children's Home and those of five other similar organizations which became part of it, as follows: The Orphans Home & Asylum of the Protestant Episcopal Church in New York, 1851-1947; Society for the Aid of Friendless Women & Children, Brooklyn, 1869-1922; Sevilla Home for Children, New York, 1889-1947; Hopewell Society of Brooklyn, 1921-47; and Sevilla-Hopwell Society, 1947. -- Included in this archive are minutes of boards of trustees/managers and various committees, agreements, applications, registers of admissions/discharges, reports, treasurers accounts and other financial records, a punishment book, visitors books, real estate records, scrap books, photographs, bibles, and misc. papers. -- Also included (although not an integral part of the above) are rent, letter, and account books, 1817-65 (10 vols.), relating to land in Masonville, Delaware Co., N.Y. originally owned by Rev. John M. Mason (1770-1829) of New York City. Some of these records were kept by John Mason Knox, who also served ca. 1860's as Leake & Watts' treasurer.
