Chiefly business and legal papers of an Ipswich, Mass., family, including account book and receipts (1721-30) for outfitting of ships and account book (1730-57) of expenses, of John Dennis (d.1757), papers relating to the guardianship of the William Searles children, estate papers of Margaret Rogers, and other receipts, accounts and town militia commissions, muster rolls, tax lists, and estate papers. Persons represented include John Dennis' father, Thomas Dennis (d.1706), and children, Thomas (1706-1771) and Rev. John Dennis (1708-1773). Other subject matter includes the First Parish Church in Ipswich, and the ships Charming Betty, Elizabeth, Grand Turk, John and Hannah, Mary, Prudent, and Ranger. Other persons represented include Jonathan Belcher, William Dummer, Rev. John and Nathaniel Rogers, William Shirley, and the Rogers family.
