The vocal scores are by Chappell (London, c1902-1904, pl. no. 21450). The piano scores were published by Chappell (c1902, pl. no. 21534) for a single selection in an arrangement by Charles Godfrey and are contained in folders marked "director's" or "conductor's" score. The chorus parts are holographs. The orchestra parts consists of three sets of manuscript parts and 34 parts printed by Chappell (1902, pl. no. 21,5590) for a selection arranged by Godfrey. The promptbooks are typescript. One, for the first act only, is marked "Duff version" and includes a playbill pasted inside the front cover. The dialogue parts are typescript.

James Taylor Tanner, was born in Homer, New York, on 6 March 1914. He attended Cornell University and did graduate study under Arthur A. Allen. His master's thesis was on "Sound Recording for a Natural History Museum." His Ph.D. dissertation was "Life History and Ecology of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker," based on 21 months of field studies in the great Singer tract in northeastern Louisiana, the last refuge for this nearly extinct species. Tanner died in Knoxville, Tennessee, on 21 January 1991. ...
