Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor [collection] : komische phantastische Oper in drei Akten : nach Shakespeare's gleichnamigen Lustspiel / von S.H. Mosenthal ; Musik von Otto Nicolai. 1850-1940.

Arranged in six groups: I. Vocal scores (28). II. Vocal parts (17). III. Chorus parts (142). IV. Promptbooks (5). V. Lyrics (1). VI. Dialogue parts (71). Vocal scores include four different editions by Bote & Bock of Berlin (one in German, 1850?; one in French, 1859?; and two editions in German & French, 1875?, one based on the Peters edition); editions in German & French by Breitkopf & Härtel (Leipzig, 188-?) and by Litolff (Braunschweig, 189-?); and three distinct German editions by Peters of Leipzig (187-?; one edited by Kogel, 1882?; and one edited by Soldan, 19--?). Many copies contain handwritten superlinear English translation. The Breitkopf & Härtel edition is arranged as a stage manager's guide, and the earliest Bote & Bock edition contains additional manuscript music bound in. Vocal parts are all manuscript: the two English parts are stamped "Aug 21 1894," while the German parts probably represent two different sets, one bearing the stamp of W. Kreitz, the other the stamp "Theater-Bibliothek L. Kiel." Chorus parts, all in Tams folders, include manuscript mimeos in Italian and in English and German, as well as holograph copies in Italian and English. The lyrics for the "Arien und Gesänge" were published in Kiel by Mohr (n.d.). Promptbooks are all manuscript and include four copies in German (one with the stamp of L.F. Witt and one with the annotation "New York 1875") and one in English. German dialogue parts are also manuscript and possibly represent two sets, one of which bears L.F. Witt's stamp. English dialogue parts include one manuscript set and four sets of typed mimeos, three of which are uncollated.
