Arranged in five groups: I. Vocal scores (12). II. Vocal parts (25). III. Chorus parts (8). IV. Promptbooks (24 in 26 vols.).V. Dialogue parts (126). The vocal scores are in French. Seven were published by Brandus, Paris, five of which are of the new edition for the three-act version (187-?) and two of the two-act version (1868). Four scores were published by Maquet, Paris (187-?) and one by Joubert, Paris (187-?), all of the three-act version. All vocal scores carry the plate number B. & D. 11,428. The vocal parts include 15 German manuscript parts, many bearing performers' names, and 10 mimeoed manuscript parts in English of the "Winston version." The chorus parts include seven German manuscript parts and one English mimeoed manuscript part of the "Winston version." The promptbooks include 10 typescript books, in English. One is incomplete, in two volumes. Several list cast members. Seven books are manuscript, in English. Two are marked "Oates Opera Co. version," one being in two volumes and one carrying the indication "arranged by Frederic Zaulig." Seven promptbooks consist of annotated printed librettos. One is in English, dated 1880, by McWilliams, New York, and bears the signature of Max Figman. Two by McWilliams carry the publication date of 1884, one of which lists cast members. Two were published by John B. Kurtz, Baltimore, 1888, one of which carries the stamp of Arthur Bell; and one was published by New York Metropolitan Printing and Engraving, 1872, in French and English. It carries the stamp of F. W. Zaulig. One promptbook is in German mansucript. The dialogue parts inclue 11 typed parts in English, several carrying performers' names; 35 manuscript parts in English, nine of which are for the "Winston version" and six of which carry the name of Arthur Bell; 57 mimeoed manuscript parts in English comprising six sets, one set of two parts being for the "Winston version"; and 19 parts in German manuscript. Many of these parts are fragmentary.

He had a strong influence in popular music in Europe, and was one of the originators of the operetta, of which he wrote more than one hundred. Henri Meilhac was a French dramatist, who often collaborated with Ludovic Halévy.
