In honor of the bicentennial of the birth of George Washington and in honor of the 157th anniversary of the founding of the postal service, Doolittle explains that he is making a flight " ... over as many of the routes traveled by George Washington as is possible in a single day from dawn to dusk ..." and he is dropping this letter en route.
