Clemens writes: "There certainly is a chance to start that new platform, & McClure, with his earnestness & energy & staying power is the man to drive it home to success if any one can." Hapgood was then editor of Collier's Weekly and Samuel McClure established the first newspaper syndicate in the U.S. -- the McClure Syndicate.
