Correspondence of Child with his daughters, Helen Maria Castillia Child and Susan Child, with members of the Sedgwick family, and with various American and English literary figures on professional matters. Includes Sedgwick family correspondence (1787-1872) and a letter (1940) written by Van Wyck Brooks referring to family reminiscences of Child's circle of friends. Members of the Sedgwick family represented include Child's wife, Elizabeth Ellery (Sedgwick) Child, Catherine M. Sedgwick, Theodore Sedgwick (1746-1813), and William Ellery Sedgwick.
