Ernani [collection] : dramma lirico en quatro atti / di Francesco Maria Piave ; musica di Giuseppe Verdi. 1845-1930.

Arranged in three groups: I. Vocal scores (5). II. Orchestra parts (53). III. Promptbooks (2). The vocal scores include a "nuovissime ed." in Italian by Ricordi (Milano, 192-?), and English/Italian editions by Novello (London, 187-?) and Ditson (Boston, 185-?). The orchestra parts occur as three incomplete sets. Set A contains 9 parts (primarily violins) in oblong format published by Ricordi and dated 1846 (pl. nos. 15161-15162). Set B consists of 25 undated manuscript parts, each of which bears the stamp of N. Barili. Set C, 19 manuscript parts in Tams folders, is heavily annotated, with cuts and insertions shown in each part. The first cornet part bears the cover stamp "Aug. 3 1893," and on the title page the annotation "Mexico 1865, 1866, Portland, Ore. USA 4/28/23." The English promptbooks consist of printed text pasted into lined ledger books.
