Copies of letters, some with orders for merchandise, of Philadelphia merchant Stephen Collins. Most of the letters were written to other merchants, agents, or ship captains. These include the firms of Jenks & Forrester and Davis, Pitt, & Davis; Samuel Elam and George Oates, William Neate, William Gray, Boston merchant Jonathan Amory, and Capt. Robert Rantoul. Among Collins's concerns was the estate of Philadelphia merchant William Barrell, of which he was the administrator. The letters contain frequent references to the war with Great Britain and the consequent disruption of trade.
