ALS, 1877 March 6 : Monterey, to Colonel Don Manuel Castro.

As a historian, Vallejo requests Castro write his participation of the years 1845-1850, as the most minute details left out would leave an incomplete chronicle. He refers to Bancroft also gathering historical data.

Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
