Portland, Maine, early land developments collection, ca. 1620-1845 and 1888.

This collection, possibly compiled by William Goold, consists of an assortment of manuscript copies of letters and documents (ca. 1620-1845) about charters, land grants, land development, land purchasing, and title information in the areas of Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth, and Maine. Additionally, a foldout pamphlet attempts to sell maps, atlases, and globes for J.L. Smith, a map publisher and manufacturer, located in Philadelphia, Pa. A business letter between the company and Hon. W. Goold accompanies the pamphlet, along with the company's logo and letterhead dating to 1888.
