This collection includes research material, correspondence, maps, and blueprints which were used in the 1992 survey, as well as the nomination forms for twenty-five bridges which were placed on the National Register in May 1995. In addition, the final report on the historic bridge inventory published in 1996 by the Highway Department is also included.

In 1992 the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Dept. performed a second statewide historic bridge inventory analysis to update their study originally done in 1987. The 1992 survey consisted of all bridges that were constructed between the years 1941 and 1950. With the help of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, a group of bridges were chosen to be nominated to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
