ALS, 1907 May 5 : Glen Echo, Maryland, to Joseph L. Killgore.

Written on the letterhead of the National First Aid Association of America, Barton writes to thank Killgore, Commander of the New York Association Union Ex-Prisoners of War, for being invited to attend the anniversary of the last recorded death at Andersonville, the Confederate prison in Georgia where 13,000 men died. In 1865 President Lincoln had asked Barton to lead the search for many missing Union men. In this search, she went to Andersonville, to identify and mark the graves of thousands of Union dead.
