Billups discusses his work at Glenmede, focusing on its grantmaking, including the Committee on Grants, the donors' intent, the growth in grantmaking and payout requirements in the 1980s, the first annual reports, trust-initiated grantmaking (TIPs) and write-ups (WUps), and the relations between the grantmaking and investment divisions of Glenmede.

Fred H. "Bud" Billups, Jr. was born in 1938 in Richmond, Virginia. His father worked for Standard Oil of New Jersey and his family moved a great deal, including several years in Cuba. He graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia and from the University of Virginia. Billups married in 1962 and had one son and one daughter. After service in the navy and work with Exxon, he joined the Glenmede Trust Company in 1976 as manager of the charitable trust department, resigning in 1988....

Allyn R. Bell was born Sept. 2, 1909 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1926. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1931 with a major in accounting. In 1977 he recieved an honorary doctoral degree in economics from Soongsil University (Korea). Robert Dunlop was born on July 2, 1909 in Boston, Massachusetts to Scottish immigrant parents. His father was a marine engineer.
