Consists of short stories, newspaper articles, manuscripts, and correspondence written by Virginia Greer. Included with the correspondence are letters written between Greer and the various publishing houses that released her books and articles, including Reader's Digest, Christian Herald Books, Attic Salt Press, and John Knox Press. The papers also contain subject files on various authors, including Hodding Carter II and Celestine Sibley, and events, as well as research notes and photographs. In addition, the papers are comprised of various printed materials relating to Mobile General Hospital and the United States Department of State.

Virginia Bradford Greer was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 30, 1919. Her family later moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where Greer was raised and married. She and her husband moved to Mobile, Alabama, in the summer of 1937 and in 1952 she took a correspondence course from the Newspaper Institute of America and began short stories and poems to magazines.
