Papers, 1833-1941, bulk: 1853-1864.

The bulk of this collection consists of letters from the firm Bush & Comstock in Boston to Samuel W. Comstock, merchant and partner in the trading company Howland & Aspinwall of New York. William O. Comstock, younger brother of Samuel, was a partner with Frederick T. Bush in the firm Bush & Comstock, shipowners and merchants in trade with various firms and individuals in China. A younger brother, Cornelius Comstock, was also involved in commerce. Included in the collection are correspondence and contracts concerning the transport of Chinese laborers to Panama and Cuba for the Panama Rail Road Company (1853).
