Records of Boston's West Boston Society (West Church), including a small volume containing a list of taxes on pews (1819-23) and a volume containing the minutes of the agents appointed to oversee the construction of a new meeting house, 1805-9. The new building was designed by architect Asher Benjamin. The minutes describe the progress of construction and include accounts for construction, subscriptions, and the sale of pews. The collection also includes papers relating to the dissolution of the church in 1892-93, including records of the disposition of funds, treasurer's final accounts, pew valuations, etc. and a typescript index to the church's vital records, which are not part of the collection. Correspondents include the church's treasurer, Otis Norcross, clerk Alexander F. Wadsworth, and pastor Cyrus A. Bartol.
