Correspondence of the Baury family of Middletown, Ct., and Newton, Mass. Family members include Mary Clark Baury, wife of Major Louis Baury de Bellerive, a French volunteer in the American Revolution, and their sons Frederic and Alfred L. Baury. Frederic served on the U.S.S. Constitution under Captain Isaac Hull at the beginning of the War of 1812, and disappeared with the crew of the Wasp in 1814. Alfred L. Baury was the pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Newton from 1822 to 1851. (Cont.) Also, Frederic Baury's journal kept on board the U.S. Frigate Essex, 29 Oct. 1809 to 31 Jan. 1811, and a journal in 3 vols. kept on the Constitution, 5 July 1811 to 12 Feb. 1813, along with leases and financial papers of Alfred L. Baury and a typescript memoir of the Baury family.

Isaac Hull (1773-1843) commanded USS Constitution in her 1812 victory over Guerriere, in which it earned the sobriquet "Old Ironsides."
