Papers, 1829-1835.

Papers relating to the purchase and improvement of the Massachusetts Journal, which was first published in June, 1826. The new newspaper incorporated the Massachusetts Weekly Journal, but "weekly" was dropped from the title. The proprietors planned to use the newspaper to support the election of Henry Clay, or any other nominee of the National Republican Party, for president in 1832. A letter from publisher David Lee Child to journalist William J. Snelling is included.
