John Wilmerton letter, 1846 Jan. 12.

Letter from John Wilmerton, apparently an employee on a New Orleans to Cincinnati packet line, to Charles Stokes of Rancocas, Burlington County, N.J. Writing from Cincinnati, Ohio, Wilmerton describes a trip on the steamer "Duke of Orleans," severe winter weather in New Orleans, bustling activity at the Cincinnati wharves, and passenger accommodations on steamboats operating on the Mississippi River.
