Fiske Kimball was Director of the Philadlphia Museum of Art, and instrumental in the hiring of Carl Zigrosser. Their correspondence covers gifts to the Museum, the cultivation of possible donors, Zigrosser's gifts to the Museum Zigrosser's buying trips to Europe, exhibitions, family news, Zigrosser's time as acting-director, Kimball's departure from the Museum in 1954, the death of Marie Kimball, and postcards from Kimball's trip to Europe in the summer of 1955, where he died in August of that year. There is also an exchange of letters from Henry Clifford and Carl Zigrosser about Kimball's death. Clifford, another museum employee, was present at the time.
